A wonder 7 days at Stone Village, friendly staff, great accommodation. my only negative comment is that the pictures on the website do not give you a good perception... read more of space, we had a room within our cottage with bunk beds and we could just fit a person in never mind the cases required for a week. but aside from that I cannot fault this wonderful place.

My first criticism, all be it not a big one is the food. The food that the hotel serve is not for me. The evening dinner food is warm to cold. It has a wide selection but overall the food isnt for me. Which isn't an issue. The main problem I have is the condition the animal at the hotel "zoo" are kept in. Although these are probably kept within Greek animal regulations, I am not happy in the slightest with going to see the horses and being greeted by a lovely but very lonely looking dog. The dog seems well, eyes are bright, but undoubtedly has mange and has a serious flea problem. I've been to see the dog every day of my visit and my heart bleeds for him every time I see him. I've spent more time that I usually would at a "zoo" as I've been sat with this dog I have affectionately and aptly named "scruff". He is an adorable dog and it will be incredibly hard to leave him as he is really suffering with the above issues and he is stuck inside a pony enclosure, he is filthy dirty and partially shaved due to flea and tick issues. I am a huge animal lover and the other animals are kept in relatively good conditions although due to the heat here in Crete, I wouldn't have thought they should have a lot more shade and water, of which they had very little of both.
Maybe I'm just too caring as I know the hotel will have to be checked frequently by the authorities for the welfare standards of the animals.
As a dog owner, seeing Scruff in this poor state makes me feel sick to my stomach and I would love to take him home with me. He is such a loving dog with a lovely personality. I wish I could keep him. Adorable dog. Please don't keep him in a pony enclosure for much longer. He needs a lot of love and attention as he is desperate for it.
Overall the hotel is lovely but the conditions of the animals isn't what I would call adequate. More

Really quiet and relaxing.... But, the so called zoo is in need of a complete overall. Animals seem ok however I have concerns for a small dog that is in with the 2 small ponies. wants to play and be loved..
I hope that he can be moved out of there and see a vet as he could be a great dog to play with any children that stay there.
Overall I recommend staying at Stone Village, and would happily stay again, just please love that little dog..

Family Room was nice and spacious if somewhat frayed at the edges but good spirit and helpful staff more than compensates for that. Feels like a place that is nice to you if you are nice and down to earth which to me is better than eagerness to please the customers no matter what. Good pricing completed a very nice experience for us all. Home made bottle of Tzipuro given to us as a farewell gift sealed our family appreciation of the Cretan proud hospitality. Yamas! More
